How to Become a Disney Cast Member

by Kellen Wright

Disney calls its characters, salesmen, performers, and vendors “cast members”. Perks for these professionals include free admission to Disney parks and enviable discounts. Full-time cast members receive medical and dental insurance, retirement plans, and paid vacation. If this sounds like your kind of work, here’s how to become a Disney cast member:

  1. Face Characters

If you’re interested in being a face character, show up with the right look. Unusually short or tall candidates fit well into certain costumes. Face characters are required to have have clear skin, nice teeth, and a build that makes sense. Audition with a positive attitude. Let your personality and friendliness shine. Cast members must be outgoing.

  1. Other positions

Whether you’re interested in working at Walt Disney World in face character or other positions, search “Disney Careers” online. Find out which positions are open. See if the job description and salary make sense for you. Disney has positions from communications, to food service, to HR, to imagineering—Disney even has full-time sign painters!

  1. Positivity and Professionalism

These two elements can help you land the job you want. Employers appreciate and positive attitude and professional demeanor. The more you show your ability for these two things, the higher your chances of getting hired. Of course, you’ll need the required skillset as well, so apply to positions connected to your experience.

And good luck!
